Cycle the roof of the world
This ride will take cyclists from Kashmir to Kathmandu. Along the way they will pedal over passes as high as 5,000m, spin past remote forts and Gompas (Buddhist Monasteries), visit heavenly historic hill stations in Manali and Shimla and search for elusive snow leopards in the drama Himalayan landscapes. They can take yoga lessons in Rishikesh and search for the Beatle’s famous Ashram before pedalling past sprawling tiger-filled National Parks and into Lumbini, the birthplace of the Lord Buddha. Finally, the riders will marvel at the incredible views of 3 8,000 metre peaks - Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Manaslu - from the Nepalese town of Pokhara before making the final push into Kathmandu, Nepal’s legendary capital.
This exciting Himalayan adventure begins in historic Srinagar. The route heads up and up into the barren but captivating landscapes of Ladakh and over a number of stunning 5,000m passes before dropping into the Himalayan foothills. The road then heads back up into the vast Himalayan plateau taking the riders past some jaw-dropping scenery before descending to the Indian plains and the holy city of Rishikesh. Continuing eastwards the cyclists gradually climb back up into the mountains of Nepal, spinning past temples, sparking lakes and friendly villages. The towering mountains of the Annapurna range will shadow the riders on their final stages into fabled Kathmandu and the conclusion to this epic Himalayan adventure.
