The final stage of the Trans-Europa
Our first day back on the bike after leaving the vibrant and proudly Catalan city of Barcelona will take us to Tarragona, where one could visit the Roman amphitheatre by the shore of the Mediterranean. We will continue cycling south, eventually arriving to our rest day in the city of Valencia. One of Spain's most popular destinations, it possesses a unique blend of modernist architecture and UNESCO protected historic areas. Though not everyone enjoys a bullfight, Valencia's Plaza de Toros is well worth visiting for its Bull Fighting Museum.
From Valencia, we will cycle slightly more inland, across the dry, rolling hills of southern Spain blessed with olive and orange trees, and typically clear blue skies. Our next rest day destination is Granada, with its famous Moorish Alhambra Fortress, built during the times of Muslim rule in Southern Spain.
Departing Granada, we will begin our final short stretch to the conclusion of the tour in Gibraltar, with its high limestone ridge known as the Rock of Gibraltar. From here we can celebrate the finish of our journey, while looking south towards the northern tip of the African continent, and enjoying some British fish and chips with a cold stout!
