Cycle Across The Great White North: From the Pacific to the Atlantic

This compelling cross-country cycling adventure begins in beautiful Vancouver, one of the world’s most liveable cities. Riders will start to pedal through the Coastal and Rocky Mountain Ranges, passing through some of the world’s most incredible scenery and visiting some of the country’s most iconic National Parks. Along the way they will enjoy soothing hot springs, sip sublime Okanagan wines, observe a wide variety of wildlife, learn about local history and revel in the peace and serenity of the view out over Lake Louise in the Rockies.

The next stage takes riders out onto the Canadian Prairies, part of the vast North American Great Plains. The cyclists will pedal amongst the Badlands of Alberta, home to some of the most well-preserved dinosaur bones in the world. Further on, where immense herds of buffalo once roamed, riders will head out through boundless fields of wheat and canola. The days will be spent spinning past towering grain elevators and isolated homesteads while the nights will feature spectacular sunsets and endless starry skies.

With the prairies behind them, the cyclists now pedal along the lakes and through the boreal forests that characterize the Canadian Shield. Gliding past rivers, streams and wetlands, the riders will understand the challenges and rewards of travel through this ancient land. The highlight is Lake Superior, the largest lake by surface area in the world, which contains 10% of all the freshwater in the world. The route along its shores is winding and rolling and the weather, affected by the lake’s unpredictable moods can change in a second.

The riders continue across the Canadian Shield in the footsteps of some of the country’s earliest explorers, stopping in the mining city of Sudbury to gaze at the Big Nickel and in North Bay to swim in the warm, shallow waters of Lake Nipissing. Arriving at the Ottawa River, the cyclists will spin along its shores to Ottawa, Canada’s capital and home to a wide variety of museums, galleries and other attractions. Back along the river, the riders will spin into the province of Quebec and the city of Montreal.

The route now meanders through rural Quebec, passing through orchards and small towns before arriving in historic Quebec City. Looming majestically over the mighty St Lawrence River, the old city will delight the riders with its old-world atmosphere, incredible views and mouth-watering cuisine. Keeping an eye out for whales, the cyclists will pedal along the St Lawrence for a few days before heading east into New Brunswick where they will enjoy a ferry ride across the Bay of Fundy, home to the world’s highest tides, before wrapping up the tour on the waterfront in Halifax.
