The outstanding beauty of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and Forest of Bowland
Welcome to the Yorkshire Dales, England's second largest National Park, arguably one of the most beautiful and indisputably, one of the most rugged.
More than just a weekend retreat for casual hobbyists and amateur riders, ever since 2014 when Yorkshire staged the Grand Départ of the Tour de France, the county has become a regular fixture in the professional racing calendar, with the hilly Dales stages of the annual Tour de Yorkshire and the Tour of Britain, registering as firm favourites with riders and fans alike.
Yorkshire punches above its weight and whilst it may not be able to offer the massive climbs over enormous mountain passes that some other European mainland destinations can, what it lacks in altitude, it more than makes up for with a full repertoire of shorter, punchier little climbs and a healthy helping of true Yorkshire grit.
We will base ourselves in Malham, a lovely village surrounded by lush green countryside, which serves us perfectly as a gateway to the southern and central regions of the Dales and the neighbouring Forest of Bowland. From Malham we will head out to sample some of the best riding in the region by day, returning in the afternoons to sample some typical northern hospitality and feast on the hearty local fare.
Holiday Highlights
Fleet Moss, Malham Cove, Scaleber Force Waterfall and Bowland Knotts
Locally brewed beers from the world-famous Black Sheep & Theakston breweries of Masham
Wensleydale’s finest cheese and Yorkshire Pudding as God intended it!
