This mountain biking cycle exploration of Ho Chi Minh Trails ,starts in Hanoi Capital and ends in the Luang Prabang city in the north of Laos . Along the way we pause to visit the main sites in HoaBinh, Phong Nha cave , Vang vieng … and finally beautiful Lunag Prabang old city. What makes this tour special is our route hardly touches the frenetic Highway 9, as we ride along quiet or little used roads to discover the real Vietnam. Taking time out of the saddle we have excursions by boat in Phong Nha cave .

The northwest loop is a fantastic route for cyclist. Over 800km cycling from Nghia Lo to Mu Cang Chai, Ha Giang, Quan Ba, Dong Van, Meo Vac, BaBe national park etc…. this is the best cycling route in Vietnam so far. The ride towards Sapa meanders through grass valleys to climb alongside crescent paddies and corn fields into a ring of mountains the French once dubbed the ” Tonkinese Alpes”. Above all else towers Fansipan, at 3,143 metres Vietnam’s highest peak. The mountain pass 15km outside Sapa is the highest one in Vietnam ~ 2,000 meters above sea level.

As you follow the route once used by North Vietnamese soldiers on their way to war, you will travel through remote areas where Westerners are still a rarity. You will take in the beautiful limestone mountains of the Truong Son Mountain Range. Visit Dong Loc was a strategic road T-junction at the beginning of the Ho Chi Minh trails which was extensively bombed by American forces during the Vietnam War.. Visit historical sites dating back to the 15th, the birthplace of Ho Chi Minh and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Phong Nha National Park. For war buffs, it will be possible to visit the site of the US combat base at Khe Sanh, where one of the most famous battles of the war took place. This is a challenging adventure with basic accommodation, but providing a unique insight into remote Vietnam.
