Did you know that Kathmandu Valley was once a lake with a lotus flower floating in it? Manjushree, a curious God came down to inspect the Lotus and with his great sword carved a cleft in the valley wall to let out the water, hence creating this fertile and diverse valley.
Kathmandu Valley is rimmed by dense pine, rhododendron and fir jungles, rolling hills, sprawling villages and terraced ride fields. If you love culture, and don’t want to hit the high Himalayans, the valley is a play-ground for mountain bikers.
From both Nagarkot and Chisapani the views of the Himalaya are simply breath-taking. Along the route, the tour passes the beautiful monastery at Namobuddha as well as the ancient town centers of Pauntie and Dhulikhel and explores the rich rural cultural of the Valley. Finnish up with a visit to the ancient city of Bhaktapur and the world’s tallest statue of Lord Shiva. The ride is a moderate one, with lots of up and down hill and requires a good level of fitness. The trails are mixed jeep track, single track, country roads and short sections on main road.
