The Jura mountain range straddles the border between France and Switzerland, from the Rhone River to the Aare River. The Jura consists of a series of parallel folds in the strata, forming together a plateau about 200 miles long and 20 to 35 miles wide. This series of ridges and valleys offer a wealth of small lakes, gorges, waterfalls, caves and forested mountains, but most of all it provides an abundance of small scenic roads ideal for cycling, begging to be explored. Not wanting to be outdone by Switzerlands more famous high Alps and their spectacular alpine scenery, the verdant pastures, tranquil meadowlands, rolling hills and tree-covered mountains of the Jura will offer us idyllic cycling beyond the imagination. Well find ourselves cycling on perfect roads: meandering forest paths, winding lakeside roads, quiet roads wandering through green meadows; roads twisting and plunging down steep gorges; this will be constant scenic overload.
