Gran Fondo Florence
Image supplied by Cycle Classic Tours
The first editions of Gran Fondo Firenze have been a great success with over 2,000 cyclists competing along the routes of Chianti. In 2013, part of the course was the same of the Florence World Cycling Championship which took place in September 2013. The starting line was at the Fortezza da Basso, then the course went along the Florence historical centre, crossing Piazza Duomo, Lungarno, Piazzale Michelangelo and then heading toward the Chianti countryside, crossing one of the most beautiful scenary in the world.
After reaching the town of Radda in Chianti, cyclists headed back to Florence along the same path of the professional athletes that will attend the world championship, crossing Fiesole climb and via Salviati. As an extra you will have dinner with ex pro Italian cyclist Paolo Bettini (ex world & olympic champion)! We still wait for the official courses so stay tuned and it will be published as soon as possible!
