Staying in Gartmore House near Aberfoyle in the National Park, an area sometimes known as 'The Highlands in Miniature' owing to its landscape of Lochs, Glens and Mountains. Cycling 35-45mpd on quiet roads. Visits include Inchmahome Priory on Lake of Menteith, Callander and across Loch Lomond by boat.The Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park includes about 720 square miles of some of the best scenery and wildlife in Scotland with many Munros (mountains over 3000 ft), lochs, rivers and streams. In the west, Ben Lomond towers over its namesake, Loch Lomond - the largest expanse of freshwater in the UK. The east side of the park around Callander, the lochs and forests is a joy for those who enjoy the peace and scenery of Loch Katrine and smaller lochs, forests and rivers. The Queen Elizabeth Forest Park stretches from Loch Ard in the west, through the Trossachs to Loch Lubnaig in the east and offers a fantastic variety of walks and cycleways. Railway stations at Stirling, Balloch and Glasgow.
