An adventure tour to Buddhist Ladakh in the Indian Himalaya. A spectacular journey through an incredible landscape, culminating with the ascent of the Khardung La from the Nubra Valley, the world's highest road. Physically demanding with great rewards. Part hotels and part fully serviced luxury tents. Fly Heathrow/Delhi/Leh - Leh/Delhi/Heathrow.This is a repeat of our 2013 tour exploring the remote areas of Ladakh in the India Himalaya. Flying from Delhi into Leh we spend the first four days at lower altitude to help with acclimatisation, cycling west towards Kashmir and visiting Alchi and Lamayura monasteries. After this essential period of acclimatisation we will travel south from Leh then take a little travelled road alongside the Indus River. After crossing the bridge at Mahe, the road swings west to Tso Kar (Tso Lake), before joining the Manali-Leh highway over the challenging Tag Lang La (5300m) to the delightful village of Rumptse. From here, we will tackle the high passes east and north of Leh entering the Nubra Valley by way of the Wuri La (5280m). Descending into the valley, we follow the Shyok river to Hundar before returning to Leh via the Khardung La (5360m) the World's highest motorable road. Daily mileages are modest, but the long climbs, occasional rough surfaces and altitude combine to make this a very challenging and rewarding tour for fit adventure cyclists. There are 9 nights fully supported camping, and 7 nights in hotels. Vehicle support throughout.
