Gatwick & the Surrey Hills to Salisbury
Ride from one of Europe�s best transport centres to the ancient city of Salisbury on quiet country roads. Visit places of interest such as Jane Austen�s House. Starting out from this air, rail and coach hub makes the tour easily accessible to cyclists travelling from Cowdenbeath, Crawley or California. B&B for final night.Local cycle paths link the airport with the nearby network of country lanes, avoiding busy roads. At the end of the tour there are rail and coach links between Salisbury and London. The greatest distance covered in one day will be 50 miles. Accommodation will be mostly dormitory style in hostels with shared twin rooms in a B&B guest house on the last night. Assemble at Gatwick and for a 18 mile ride to the first hostel located in the beautifully wooded Surrey Hills. The second and third nights will be spent in a hostel deep in rural Hampshire with a local day ride. The fourth and final night will be based in Salisbury itself with time to explore the city, with its famous cathedral and many other historic buildings. Stopping at village stores or cafes on moving-on days for lunch. To really enjoy this holiday riders should have experienced cycling 40 to 50 miles on two consecutive days and should be fit enough to climb modest hills loaded with pannier bags.
