True adventure! Pedalling the epic Atlas Mountains, exploring the colours of the Moroccan souks (markets) in Marrakesh and Fes and rolling into UNESCO listed historic walled towns such as Aït Benhaddou (header image - imagine arriving by bike!). Then joining the caravan routes of ages gone by to choose between camel back or 4WD through the desert at Merzouga! This Moroccan stage is bursting full of exotic sights, tastes and fun!
Then we cross the Mediterranean just as the Moorish invaders did just over 1300 years ago by boat and land in glorious Andalusia, Spain's best riding region. From the stunning Sierra Nevada through white washed villages to the tap of Flamenco (its origins are here), we have the option to take on Europe's highest road - the Pico Veleta at 3300m! We explore heritage through the ages from Granada's Alhambra to Cordoba's Roman, Spanish and Moorish monuments interspersed with idyllic riding - rolling olive and orange groves dotted with pretty villages.
On into Portugal and UNESCO filled Alentejo....Vines, olives, stunning hilltop villages, spectacular Roman and medieval history and more magnificent riding. We head north sampling the amazing food and wine, staying in the first class Pousadas (historic high class hotels) to the beautiful Douro Valley, where we follow the banks of the river all the way to the Atlantic shore and Porto where our Odyssey is complete.
