A gentle long-weekend tour of Suffolk and Norfolk. Use it as a tester or training weekend or just enjoy the beautiful flat countryside!

For those who cannot spare the time for a full cycling holiday this is the perfect fill-in. With a choice of two dates this long weekend ride through the beautiful FLAT countryside of Suffolk and Norfolk offers a gentle pace, quiet country road scenic coastline.

This is positioned as a restful weekend and the price includes accommodation on the night prior to the start so everyone can start rested and with a good breakfast inside them. We will start/finish in Bury St Edmunds – an historic Suffolk market town and we can usually arrange it so that your cars can be left at the hotel for the weekend.

Our first day is spent making our way to the east coast, through tranquil farmland and manicured country estates. Our destination is Lowestoft, Britain’s easternmost town and along the way we pass through Framlingham with its 11th century castle and the grounds of Heveningham Hall, one of the UK’s largest private residences.

On our second day we leave Lowestoft and hug the coast, passing through Great Yarmouth and into Norfolk. We pass through the small coastal villages of Winterton-on-sea, Waxham and Walcott before turning inland to avoid the busy coastal stretch through Cromar and Sheringham. Quiet country roads, some so narrow that the support vehicle cannot follow, are now the order of the day!

On our final day, leaving Holt we arc southwards, returning to Bury St Edmunds, passing through the towns of Swaffham (for a well-earned lunch stop) and Brandon along the way.

Average daily mileage will be about 61, but with very flat terrain this ride is suitable for any regular cyclist.
