Golden Gourmet

1 Days Moderate 45 Km

The Riding High Golden Gourmet tour is a 45km route through some of the north-east’s most beautiful food and wine country. It all starts in the historic town of Beechworth, one of Victoria’s most beautifully preserved gold mining towns. From the heights of Beechworth it’s down hill to Everton Station – a good place for a quick break. From here it’s a flat 16km ride through open country to Tarrawingee, where you’ll get the rare opportunity to sit back and enjoy lunch in the historic Ladson’s Store.

Following lunch it’s back on the bikes for a 9km ride along quite country roads, across the Ovens River and on to the famous Milawa Gourmet Region. First stop on the list is the well-renown Milawa Cheese Factory. Here you’ll enjoy a complimentary coffee to keep you going, not to mention the opportunity to taste some of Australia’s finest cheeses. You will also be able to take a look at the latest artistic offerings on show at the popular Muse Gallery.

From the Cheese Factory it’s a short 2km ride to the township of Milawa, where you can discover the gourmet delights on offer at Milawa Mustards, EV Olives and Snow Road Produce, all of which are within walking distance of each other.

The final leg of the Golden Gourmet tour takes you from Milawa along the Rail Trail for 6km to Sam Miranda Winery in Oxley, where you will get the chance to sit back, relax and enjoy a tasting plate featuring the chef’s selection of some house favourites while savouring a glass of wine or Sam’s famous Prosecco. The perfect end to a magical day of cycling.
