Tour Operator Mountain Bike Namibia
This trip departs from Windhoek after the first night and takes you over the majestic Namib Desert escarpment at Spreetshoogte Pass. We travel down into the Namib Desert towards Sesriem and Sossusvlei. The wide expanses of desert savannahs and dune seas make up much of the beautiful landscape. We visit Sossusvlei, Elim Dune and Sesriem Canyon, on foot and on our mountain bikes. On our trip up towards Swakopmund, the route takes us through the ancient Gaub and Kuiseb Canyons. After cycling through the gravel plains and desolate grasslands of the Namib Naukluft Park, we arrive at the well known Inselberg/granite mountain called Blutkoppe. This lovely area is off the beaten track and we have the opportunity to cycle the surrounding stone desert, dotted with granite boulders and Quiver trees. On the final day, we cycle out of the desert into Swakopmund, where we'll stay in a centrally situated guesthouse overnight.

The tour departs from Windhoek via Omaruru to Northwestern Namibia. From there we travel to the Palmwag Concession. An area off the more commonly driven tourist routes, includes the lava's of the Etendeka Plateau, Skeleton Coast , the northern dune sea and the linear oasis's, the Hoanib, Hoarusib and Khumib rivers. In and near these rivers, one finds an abundant supply of wild animals including elephants and lions. We cycle on the Palmwag concession where we should encounter many different species of wild animals. The bizarre and unique flora is captivating and beautiful. The landscapes are of a long ago lava flow that has created a unique stone desert filled with many small mountains. The northwest is home to the famous free roaming black rhinocerous that are increasing their numbers in this lovely nature area. Onwards and westwards we cycle into the Gamatub valley on the way to the isolated Hoanib River winding it's way into the Skeleton Coast Park . On the desolate gravel plains of the Skeleton Coast we cycle to Purros on the Hoarusib River , home to a large number of desert adapted elephants. From here onwards, we regularly come across the Himba people who are the ÔøΩownersÔøΩ of Kaokoland. The trip over the Khumib Pass , between the Hoarusib and Khumib Rivers is breathtaking on our bikes. Thereafter we finally reach the colorful capital of Kaokoland, Opuwo , with it's many people's and it's welcoming african chaos, via Kaoko Otavi .

This cycle tour and includes almost all the must see places in the southern and northern Namib Desert, Etosha National Park and central Namibia. On this tour we travel south over the escarpment at over the Remhoogter Pass down into the Namib Desert. We cycle to along the Naukluft Mountains to reach the Tsauchab River Camp at the foot of the Zebra Mountains. From there we continue to Sesriem and Sossusvlei where we also visit the Elim Dune and Sesriem Canyon. Through the sand seas of the southern Namib we travel into the Gaub and Kuiseb Canyons on our way to the isolated granite inselberg called Blutkoppe. Blutkoppe lies in the Namib Naukluft Park east of Swakopmund and is particularly special to cycle and walk. From here we travel to Swakopmund where we spend two days.

This 11 night/12 day exclusive lodge bike safari takes us from Windhoek south to Sossusvlei over the Spreetshoogte Pass . Thereafter we travel through the Namib Desert via Rostock Ritz and the Blutkoppeto Swakopmund on the Skeleton Coast. From Swakopmund we enter the moon landscape of the Swakop River canyon and travel to the bizarre granites and cycle paradise of Spitzkoppe. From here we travel via Uis to Twyfelfontein via the Brandberg, NamibiaÔøΩs highest mountain. We bike through the ancient petrified dune and granite inselberg landscapes to the famous bushman engravings at Twyfelfontein . This area includes the much visited organ pipes and burnt mountain which stand as visible evidence of a chaotic geological past of the ancient karoo times. We proceed to the famous Etosha National Park where we spend 2 days on game drives viewing a variety of interesting wild animals and birds, including elephant, rhino, lion and many different antelope species. On our way back to Windhoek we spend the last night at the Otjiwa Game Ranch. This fascinating private wildlife reserve is home to many unique animal species including the rare white rhinocerous. We bike the area in ÔøΩrhino trackingÔøΩ these rare giants and searching for other animals including giraffe, oryx antelope and plains zebra.

This tour starts at Swakopmund. After the first night we cycle into the ragged moon landscapes of the Swakop River and surrounding 'badlands'. The route is dotted with exotic desert adapted Flora, including the Welwitschia , Nara and Lithops. We travel inland to the Matterhorn of Namibia, the huge granite inselberg called Spitzkoppe, a special area to cycle. From Spitzkoppe the tour takes us through Uis and along the southern side of the impressive Brandberg Massif , Namibia's highest mountain at almost 2600 meters above sea level. We cycle the 'Welwitschia Highway' on our way to the out of way Save the Rhino Camp on the Ugab River . The geologically interesting folds of the ancient Damara mountain building event make for extreme and enjoyable cycling routes. The area is well known for it's desert adapted elephants and cycling next to these giants of the desert is not guaranteed but quite possible. We travel up a ragged side canyon up onto the expanses of the typical Damaraland steppes. The area around Gai-ais spring is the stomping ground of Hartmann's Mountain Zebra, Springbok, Oryx, Ostriches and many other wild animals and interesting birds. On our way Back to civilization, we visit our own private petrified forest , cycle past Doros Crater and the petrified dune landscapes of the millions of years old Karoo Landscape, to our comfortable lodge at Twyfelfontein . From here guests either continue on the Kaokoland tour or are transferred back to Windhoek.
