Lake Constance and Köngisee Cycle Trail

9 Days

Probably the most beautiful bike path in Bavaria takes you through the undulating foothills of the Alps and constantly provides new views of the Alps, idyllic lakes and forests.Starting point of the cycle track is Lindau, located on the shores of Lake Constance. The old town and port facility are world famous and it is worthwhile to visit before tackling your bike tour. From Lindau leave along the small river Leiblach before riding into the hilly Allgäu a little later. Scattered between forests and pastures lie farms and small villages to dot the landscape. After an unforgettable view of the Allgäu Alps, with the Zugspitze and the Tannheimer mountains in view you reach Hohenschwangau and probably the most famous picture postcard in Germany, that of Neuschwanstein Castle, built by King Ludwig II. Also worth seeing is the Wieskirche Church. It is slightly off the track at Steingaden and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In Benediktbeuren the Benedictine monastery invites you to visit with its 1,250 -year history. The bike path reaches Bad Tölz an der Isar and the Upper Bavarian picturesque landscape, the route to Lake Tegernsee, Schliersee and finally to the Chiemsee, where you should leave some time free to visit. Take the boat to Ladies Island, then after a round trip we cross to the Genleman’s island on which another magnificent castle from the time of King Ludwig II is waiting for you. Via Traunstein the way leads on to Bad Reichenhall and Berchtesgaden. Final destination of this tour lies in an Alpine landscape of the Berchtesgaden National Park. The King’s lake, as Konigsee translates, is a true culmination of a really Royal bike tour!
