Pyrenees/French Alps Combo

29 Days

This year we will be offering the opportunity to link both tours together for a once in a lifetime chance to ride some best alpine climbs France has to offer.

The Pyrenees leg of the ride will start in the medieval city of Carcassonne and finish between two famous Pyrenean climbs of Col d’ Abisque and Col du Tourmalet. Our ride has been designed so that each day has some good riding but offering options to add more miles if you feel up to it. Your guides are always happy to let you know the best places to go if you feel the need to stretch your legs a little more at the end of the day.

With 2013 being the 100th Tour de France the French Alps section will celebrate this by starting and finishing at the foot of the famous Le Alpe d’ Huez. Here we will have the opportunity to watch the double hill climb of Le Alpe d’ Huez in stage 18 as well as the start of stage 19 of the 2013 Tour de France.

In the French Alps our route will take us in a loop of the southern half of the Alps and will offer a mix of great climbs and historic towns. We have also catered to the wider range of riders this year with shorter days but offering a lot of extra miles for those who are looking to bag as many passes as possible.
Many passes made famous by past years of the Tour de France will feature in our journey. Port de Pallheres, Col du Portet d’ Aspet, Col d’ Abisque, Col du Tourmalet, Col du Galibier, Col de la Cayolle, Col de Vars and Col d’ Izoard. A good number of the climbs we do will a part of this year’s Tour de France.
Transport to the tour from Toulouse Airport and back to Lyon Airport, support vehicle, a sweep rider if the group exceeds 10 riders, 26 breakfasts, 17 dinners, all camp fees and friendly guides/cooks.
Transportation to places other than those on the route, 8 “free night” dinners, meals during transfer days between the Pyrenees and Alps sections and any major bike repairs.
