Bike the West has been producing quality cycling events since 1984 in around the Lake Tahoe area Northern California and in the State of Nevada. Bike the West Event Director, Curtis Fong. Organized the Death Ride from 1984 to 1995; The Comstock Silver Century premiered in 1989 followed by America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride and Oatbran in 1991. Our other popular events include Tour de Tahoe which is an early fall bike ride around Lake Tahoe. All Bike the West bicycling events are fully supported with welcome / goodie bags, event T-shirts, event water bottles and other premium items, rest stops with food & beverage including lunch and after ride meal, medical first aid, tech support and SAG transport services. Lake Tahoe
The 72-mile America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride circumnavigates the highways clockwise around Lake Tahoe in both Nevada and California. It includes a challenging 800 foot climb to a rest stop overlooking Emerald Bay and a 1,000 foot climb to Spooner Junction. There are also many short rolling ascents and descents totaling over 4,000 vertical feet of elevation gain! The altitude ranges between 6,300 feet and 7,100 feet above sea level and the ride is recommended for conditioned recreational bicyclist, not for beginners. Participants must be at least 14 years of age (please, no children on bike carriers or trailers) and must be experienced in riding roadways.

'America's Loneliest Bike Tour'
A lone rider stares out at the horizon and the trail that lay before him. It will be a long day challenging the elements, climbing and descending summits, and facing the solitude of the wide-open spaces. He takes a long drink of water as a welcomed breeze greets the beads of sweat on his brow and the fragrant smell of sage and juniper fills the air. As he mounts up, he glances back from where he has already come. As far as he can see, he is surrounded by the awesome beauty of the Great Basin - massive mountain ranges that rise from wide valley floors. It is this panorama that reminds him of what it was that brought him west in the first place. As he rides out, visions of a hearty meal, a cold drink and tales of the day's adventure shared with other riders, is what he looks forward to at the end of the day.
