Norway's most popular bike route, independent departures. Family friendly.

Rallarvegen is the most popular cycling route in Norway, and follows the hand-made service road used during the building of the Bergenbanen railway from 1895-1902. Rallarvegen follows the outskirts of the Hardangervidda Plateau, leads you along the Bergen Railway Line from Haugastøl via Finse, Hallingskeid, Myrdal and down to Flåm. The road by itself is an attraction, but it also brings you through a fantastic highland area starting at 1000 meters above sea level, peaking at 1222 meters for then to lead you back down to the fjords at sea level.

The road is 82 km long and the scenery varies immensely, from Arctic high mountain nature across Hardangervidda to the opulent green Flåmsdalen valley. Although the road standard is rather rough along the route, there is little or no tourist traffic, and there are some asphalted stretches here and there.
This trips is great for families and finishing in Bergen allows you to travel on to other regions of Norway with ease.
