While Haines and Skagway are only fifteen miles apart by water, the roads connecting them travel three hundred and sixty miles through some of the most breathtaking scenery in Alaska and Canada. This route borders three National and Provincial parks that compromise the largest protected wilderness area in the world.
The ride begins and ends in the coastal towns of Haines and Skagway, Alaska. The coastal temperate rainforest environment is known for giant Sitka Spruce and Western Hemlock trees blanketing the steep mountains from the sea up to the alpine. The middle section of the ride crosses the Southern Yukon, with a drier landscape of boreal forest and stunning alpine lakes. This tour is fully vehicle supported and combines comfortable wilderness camping with stays at local B&Bs and hotels. Our meals feature locally grown and wild-caught Alaskan cuisine. Your local guide shares stories about the history and ecology of the region, and caters to your needs.
