Description

We start in the quiet streets of Milan with little traffic, then go east to ride alongside the Naviglio Pavese canal. The Naviglio Pavese is one of the canals making up the Navigli system in Lombardy. It is 33 km long and connects the city of Milan to Pavia, through a flight of six locks to the River Ticino. Construction started in 1564 and was completed in 1819.The main points of attraction are surely the canal itself, the Lombardy countryside and the Certosa di Pavia. The Certosa di Pavia is a monastery complex in Lombardy, northern Italy, situated near a small town of the same name in the Province of Pavia, 8 km north of Pavia. Certosa is the Italian name for a house of the cloistered monastic order of Carthusians, founded by St. Bruno in 1044 at Grande Chartreuse. At 16 km there is the segment Strava GCR Milan time trial that allows you to test your potential.
