The Wild Northwest

Cycle through some of the best scenery Scotland has to offer. On the rest day, cycle to the most north-westerly part of the UK mainland - Cape Wrath. Suitable for reasonably fit cyclists. This tour complements my other West Coast and Islands tour. It is suitable for reasonably fit cyclists who are willing to keep going at a steady pace and are able to deal with some very sharp but not too long climbs and potentially inclement weather. The route initially uses a mixture of roads including an A road, but offers plenty of beautiful scenery. There is a single rest day at Durness giving participants a chance to explore this wilderness, and possibly get to cycle to the most north-westerly part of the UK mainland - Cape Wrath. This tour makes use of a mixture of basic hostel accommodation and a high quality hotel where we shall stay on a half board basis. Luggage transfer is included, but please be aware, this service should not be interpreted as a 'sag wagon' and will not be following the group as support, but simply moving luggage forward each day. Tour 1458, 14-20 September, led by Paul Rogers, links with this tour in Inverness, and may offer the opportunity for those who want a longer Scottish holiday to combine both tours.
