Burlington, Vermont to Quebec City

9 Days Moderate

Sojourn’s Burlington, Vermont to Quebec City bike tours, first planned as specialty tours in celebration of the 400th anniversary of the discovery of Lake Champlain, remain extremely popular. The trip passes through charming villages and rural farmland along the major rivers of Quebec, Canada’s French-speaking province, as it journeys to the most European of North American cities.

Rural roads and bike paths parallel the waterways traveled by French explorer, Samuel de Champlain who not only discovered Lake Champlain but founded Quebec City . Follow sections of Quebec’s famous La Route Verte bike route and the Chemin du Roy – which links Montreal and Quebec City and is the oldest road in Canada.

The terrain is quite level throughout the trip and bike routes average 50 miles per day. The tour follows the shores of Lake Champlain and continues along the Richelieu River to its confluence with the mighty Saint Lawrence, one of the great rivers of the world. From there, you’ll parallel the river along its north shore, biking the entire route to Quebec City, including portions of La Route Verte.

Explore historic Quebec City with an engaging local guide. Walk narrow streets lined with bistros and boutiques in classic European style in the Petit-Champlain, the oldest commercial district in North America. Visit historic sites like Place Royale – North America’s oldest commercial market. Immerse yourself in the culture and cuisine of this historic and pedestrian-friendly city.

Enjoy the last final days of your trip relaxing and exploring the sites in Quebec City, the most beautiful and European of North American cities. Your lodging at Le Saint Pierre, a lovely country inn in the heart of the Old Port, is the perfect base from which to explore.

At the conclusion of the trip, you will be transported back to the airport in Burlington, Vermont. Pricing reflects several accommodations which are less luxurious than typical Sojourn lodging.
