Description

Canberra is home to Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve, one of the most accessible places in Australia to see Australian wildlife.Nestled in the Tidbinbilla Valley on the edge of Namadgi National Park in Canberras south-east, Tidbinbilla is home to a multitude of native animals including kangaroos, wallabies, emus, echidnas, koalas and platypus. The Reserve also plays a vital role in the conservation of endangered indigenous species like the Northern Corroboree Frog, the Brush-tailed Rock-wallaby and the Eastern Bettong. On this bicycle tour we cycle through the Reserve along its 35kph 16 kilometre loop road, stopping along the way to soak in the views and observe the animals and birds that may cross our path or draw our attention. We will also take a leisurely stroll through the Sanctuary and Eucalypt Forest enclosures, where theres a chance of a close encounter with brolgas, pelicans and magpie geese, and we may even see a platypus or koala and, if good fortune is on our side, perhaps a Lyrebird. There are some short climbs on this tour so guests will require some bike fitness, with some finding it necessary to use the lowest gear on our bikes.
